Knoxville, TN – Ellen Burgoyne Inc., the publisher of “Daily Thoughts for Friendly Fellows” made their first donation of $614.02 to the National Parkinson Foundation on December 31, 2008. The donation represents a portion of the sales from the book which launched on October 25, 2008. The Society of Friendly Fellows originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1925 by Ellen Hubrig’s great-grandfather, Sidney J. Burgoyne and has been reorganized by Ellen to emphasize the importance of seeing the good in ourselves and others. Ellen initiated the concept of giving back and has chosen the National Parkinson Foundation as the Corporations first charity. These donations embody the Society’s Creed, “To not only live and let live, but to Live and Help Live.” Donations will be made every quarter to the National Parkinson Foundation Headquarters in Miami, Florida. Ellen will be at a book signing at Blount Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 3rd from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The event is open to the public. Visit the Diocese of Knoxville's site for more information. |
