Knoxville, TN –  April is Parkinson’s Awareness month and the Society of Friendly Fellows is assisting with the 2nd Annual National Parkinson Foundation Fundraiser to be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Farragut High School baseball field in Farragut, TN. The event will be a throw-back double header baseball game where two brothers’ who are now in their 40’s and used to play for Farragut Baseball and took the team to the State Championships in the 1980’s are both afflicted with the disease.

The event will begin at 5:00 PM (Oak Ridge vs. Gibbs) and at 7:30 PM (Farragut vs. Karns). Admission is free. Several drawings will be held; one of which is a 42” LCD flat screen TV donated by Best Buy. Spa treatments, baked goods and various vendors will also be there.

All are welcome to attend the event or support the cause by sending donations to The Society of Friendly Fellows 342 Mapletree Drive, Knoxville Tennessee 37934. Write checks to the National Parkinson Foundation. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Knoxville, TN –  The second quarter donations from the Society of Friendly Fellows were sent into the National Parkinson Foundation on June 9th and after two years the donations equal $6,562.52.

One day after the April hail storm in Knox County the 2nd Annual National Parkinson Foundation Fundraiser/Throw Back Double Header Baseball event was still held at the Farragut High School. Two brothers’ who used to play for Farragut Baseball and took the team to the State Championships in the 1980’s are both afflicted with the disease. There was a silent auction and vendors at the event; where donations equaled $2,500.00.

Many thanks to Best Buy for the donation of their 42” flat screen TV, the Davis Family YMCA sponsored the T-Shirts, Bonefish Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Knoxville Women’s Rugby Club, Innovasan Corporation, MaryLou King-Silpada, Haze & Company, Pam Lambert-Tastefully Simple, Wow Massage, Side Splitters, Peerless, Shrimp Dock in Farragut, Lakeside Tavern, Tennessee State Bank, Abuelo’s, Innovation Services Inc., Exodus Chiropractic, Bent Creek Golf Village, Ripley’s Aquarium, Ober Gatlinburg, Mr. & Mrs. Collins.

Knoxville, TN – Ellen Hubrig will be signing “Daily Thoughts for Friendly Fellows” at Borders, Turkey Creek on Saturday, December 4th from 2:00-5:00 and at Borders, Morrell Rd. on Saturday, December 11th from 1:00-4:00.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the book goes to the National Parkinson Foundation and over $3,600.00 has been donated to date. The daily devotional, a 440 page hardbound book of reflections on seeing the good in ourselves and others comes in a gift box with a secure on-line Forum for Friendly Fellows to share their testimonials with each other.
